Circling + Authentic Relating
Retreat in Mexico
April 28 - May 3, 2023
San Pancho, Nayarit, Mexico
Explore the edges of what's possible in human connection.
Elevate your relationships with more presence and authenticity. Become well-versed in a communication style that has you bringing more mindfulness and embodiment to your relating. Join us in this meaningful connection retreat to know and trust yourself and others, and leave people feeling fully seen and heard. No previous Circling or Authentic Relating (AR) experience is necessary. The elegant dance with uncertainty that is central to this process is cultivated if you're simply willing to be curious, to venture into the unknown, and are open to being surprised.
This retreat is for you if:
-
you're up to big things in the world
-
you are serving something greater than yourself
-
you're a leader wanting to bring more presence, embodiment, self-responsibility and connection to your relationships
-
you want to find permission in your most authentic expression
Circling is a relational practice that deepens intimacy, uncovers relational blind spots, and levels up emotional intelligence and communication skills. Together we share sensations, emotions, and thoughts in the present moment, staying curious and open to the unfolding of our inter-being. Authentic Relating is an ecology of game-like exercises that allow us to enrich connection with others on the basis of intention, vulnerability and truth. Together with embodiment, the practices of Circling and Authentic Relating represent a potent system for generating radically transformative human experiences.
As part of radically being with what is, the facilitators are also part of the process - while continually setting context through ideas, principles and practices, they also surrender to the wider intelligence generated in the group field. This can be incredibly empowering for people unused to this environment. Circling can feel incredibly peaceful, or confronting as it may reveal deep seated relational patterns or struggles. This practice can also be challenging for those who are used to directing others toward release, healing, openness, or change. Join us to practice taking more responsibility for your experiences and to expand your capacity for being with all that is.
Liberate energy in ecstatic dance and a somatic release ceremony. Move your body on jungle hikes and ocean swims while celebrating new friendships over bountiful feasts and majestic sunsets.

Meet Your Retreat Team
-
Are San Pancho and San Francisco the same place?San Pancho and San Francisco are the same town. "Pancho" is a nickname for "Francisco" and both the locals and returning visitors alike affectionately know it as San Pancho.
-
Is there an ATM in San Pancho? Most businesses in town only accept cash (pesos). There are 3 ATM machines in San Pancho, but we highly suggest to not rely solely on this service. We recommend that you exchange US dollars for pesos at an airport; either before, or when you arrive in Puerto Vallarta. Some businesses in San Pancho will accept US dollars and credit cards, but not all.
-
Which airport do I fly into? You will fly into Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico to the Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (airport code PVR). We will have a shuttle leaving the airport to transport you to the retreat Jungle Lodge, which is 1 hour drive away in San Pancho, Nayarit. The time zone is Central Standard Time. Please contact Paula prior to booking your flight to ensure adequate arrival and departure timing for the retreat. Email paulacharmaineblundell@gmail.com or via WhatsApp at +1-519-362-8303
-
Will there be downtime?Yes, there is scheduled free time to enjoy the retreat space, beaches, active tourist life in town, or for space to book bodywork sessions if you desire. The activities and adventures scheduled outside of Circling and Authentic Relating are also optional.
-
What should I bring? As there will be sitting and movement practices, comfortable clothing is suggested. This time of year in San Pancho, the temperature ranges from 16-26 °C or 61-79°F . A long sleeve shirt, pants or an extra layer is welcome on cool jungle nights. Other activities include hiking, dancing and swimming. A reusable water bottle and swimwear are key. Shoes that slip on easily and an alarm clock or watch are recommended. We suggest an outfit for dinner at the restaurant and a night out on the town. Pack medications if needed (we have a first aid kit and there are pharmacies in town). All accommodations have electrical lights and standard outlets, so you will be able to charge personal electronics. It is a good idea to bring a headlamp or flashlight when navigating the path to your room at night. Plus any props you might want if you wish to participate in the Talent Show.
-
Is there internet/WiFi and cell signal in the jungle?WiFi is available in limited areas at the Jungle Lodge, and due to the remote location the signal is temperamental. There is also no cell service in the jungle, however we'll be headed into the town of San Pancho as a group on the majority of our days together.
-
Just so I'm clear, what is NOT included in my registration?NOT Included: Airfare to and from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Travel Insurance Bodywork Sessions Incidentals (such as laundry service or food, activities and transport outside of the retreat itinerary) Tips. Please bring cash for the several individuals who make their living supporting our trip. For the cleaners, we recommend leaving 100 - 200 pesos person for their stay (that's $5 to $10 USD). For the chef, they say tip according to how much you like the food! We recommend 400 pesos/person for your stay (that's $20 USD). It is customary to tip 10-20% (15% is standard) for taxis and shuttle service.
-
Can specific dietary requirements be accommodated?Yes. All meals will have omnivore, vegetarian and vegan options and can be adjusted by the retreat site for any additional dietary requirements. Please let us know your restrictions when booking.
-
Is there a payment plan available?Yes, email me and we will co-create a custom plan that works for you. If you are a resident of San Pancho, please email me for special rates. paulacharmaineblundell@gmail.com
-
What is the time zone in San Pancho?San Pancho (in the state of Nayarit) is in the same time zone as Puerto Vallarta (in the state of Jalisco), which is Central Time. Please note that a few years ago, San Pancho switched from the mountain time zone to the central time zone. Your devices that connect to the cell phone network may be confused, so we suggest setting your clock to central time and turning off automatic updates.
-
Is there a place to keep valuables safe? Each room has either locking closets or chests for you to store your valuables during your stay.
-
Safety and emergency medical situations?San Pancho has a very clean and efficient hospital right in town that is open for emergencies 24/7. Ambulance service is also available. San Pancho is a very safe community however we always recommend being a smart traveller - don't carry valuables with you or walk alone at night.
-
Is the accommodation shared or private?Rooms at the retreat site will be shared and will be two people per room, each person will have their own twin bed. Double occupancy is available in a queen bed in a private room. If you are booking as a double, please contact us so we can reserve the room for you and your friend/partner and send you the payment link for a 5% double occupancy discount.
-
Is the Jungle Lodge accessible? All humans are welcome at this retreat. However there are many stairs and earthen jungle pathways to be traversed between each accommodation, dining area, and the main session palapa.
-
Do the rooms have ceiling fans or air conditioning?Ceiling fans or floor fans are located in each room, however they are not generally needed from December – April. Nights are cool and days are shaded in the jungle, however it's still hot on the beach and in the town in the sun.
-
How far is the Jungle Lodge from San Pancho? The Jungle Lodge is approximately 3 miles north of San Pancho at the end of a spectacular jungle road that parallels the coastline. It takes about 10 minutes to drive into San Pancho or an hour to walk.
-
What about bugs and wildlife?People are always amazed to arrive in the jungle and find that there are very few bugs. From October – May the jungle is dry and pretty much bug free. All of the beds have optional cascading bug nets for sleeping. The jungle is home to many species of wildlife: birds, iguanas, geckos, tejones (kind of like raccoons), squirrels, frogs, armadillos and insects. These animals are friendly, but are very curious about your food, so food needs to be locked away in designated areas. Guests should also be aware that scorpions are around, but are very rare and there is no need to fear. The scorpions in this area are not deadly.
-
Is this an alcohol and substance free event?Yes. Our intention is to hold a ceremonial container for this retreat. While you are welcome to order a drink at our restaurant meals in town, please note that no alcohol will be served, available or permitted at the Jungle Lodge. The Relate Retreat is also a smoke-free and substance-free event.
-
Is this retreat right for me?Our practices involve looking at and being intimate with the structures of one’s personal reality, including how we make sense of experience, individually and collectively. Carrying over assumptions from other practices can lead to misunderstandings. Read over the following statements to determine whether or not our practice will be a good fit for you. Self-Responsibility We see you as a free agent capable of honest self-assessment and responsible choice. This is an invitation to take responsibility for yourself and your experience, including a willingness to set and maintain appropriate boundaries. By attending our events you take responsibility for your own safety and comfort, choosing to leave the practice or participate in any given moment. Not Psychotherapy We do not follow a therapeutic model of diagnosis and treatment. Our method is educational. Our emphasis is relating. Our facilitators are guides. Our practices are practices of connection and meditation whose aim is to reveal more presence. We do not prescribe choices or actions. We are not psychotherapists; we do not see you as being in a therapeutic relationship with our facilitators. Participants are welcome to speak and explore developmental intentions such as “getting somewhere,” growing, and evolving, but we do not presume these are the drivers of experience. We work in the present moment, assuming wholeness moving to greater wholeness. The Expectations of Leadership Our facilitators act in service of better relating through bringing more presence to what’s happening in the here and now. This may not follow typical expectations of a “group leader,” such as telling people the “right way” to act or making sure everyone gets along. We include the internal experiences of the leaders as part of the process. We invite you to listen to your own inner direction for leadership, and consider others’ responses as feedback to you in the context of the moment. Is this Right for You? Our workshops can be intense. We explore the unknown, the volatile, the ambiguous, as well as welcome emotions many deem as “negative” or “inappropriate” such as feelings of inadequacy, anger, sexuality, and joy. We often explore multiple sides of seeming opposites at once, and believe this can reveal an underlying unity of the immediacy of experience. We see bringing awareness to intense feelings as distinct from acting upon these feelings—we may ask you to pause or leave if we determine certain expressions risk leaving the practice of relational presence. If the above description of our workshops sounds potentially overwhelming or destabilizing for you, if you have mental illness or significant emotional challenges that you feel may be exacerbated by this type of transformational environment, or if you are not sure that you can be self-directed in taking care of your needs during the event, then we advise you not to enroll. Finally, you must be at least 18 years old to attend. By participating you acknowledge that you have read and agree to abide by these Terms of Service.

What's your Cancellation/Refund Policy? We do understand that unforeseen circumstances can occur, but because of our pre-retreat financial obligations, ticket prices cannot be refunded. However, after a confirmation has been emailed to you, a courtesy cancellation is offered within 24 hours should you have a change of mind. Your ticket is transferable and we will gladly transfer your credit if you would like to sell your retreat to someone you know or change the name the ticket is under. If you wish to cancel and cannot find someone to transfer your ticket to, we will gladly credit a portion of your payment to a future retreat hosted by Paula Blundell to be taken within 2 years of your original retreat date. The fee schedule is as follows: For cancellations more than 60 days before the retreat start date, 100% of payment may be applied to another retreat. For cancellations 30 – 59 days before retreat start date, 75% of payment may be applied to another retreat. (You will forfeit 25% of the price of your retreat.) For cancellations 15 – 29 days before retreat start date, 50% of payment may be applied to another retreat. (You will forfeit 50% of the price of your retreat.) If you cancel 14 days or less before your retreat start date, you will forfeit your entire payment. Exceptions to our policy cannot be made for any reason. We do not offer credit for a guest arriving late or leaving early. Thank you for closely considering the options above. We strongly recommend that you purchase travel cancellation insurance to protect your retreat investment against things that are out of your control. The most comprehensive insurance we've found is a Cancel For Any Reason policy. If you choose Cancel For Any Reason, you must purchase your insurance within 24 hours of retreat payment in order to qualify for coverage. Of course you can purchase other trip insurance, or use the trip insurance on your credit card - just be aware of you coverage limits, what amount of money you'll get back if you cancel, when you have to cancel by, when you have to notify the insurance company of cancellation, and if your policy has good reviews by other travelers. These two companies have been recommended to us, although we haven't yet used them personally ourselves insuremytrip.com withfaye.com To cancel your retreat, or to reach out with any questions, email paulacharmaineblundell@gmail.com
